Mars-
you magnificent god
you immortal authority
rain down upon men hatred for one another
to sharpen steel that kills
brutally, stealthily- the children of the ages
mothers anguish for their bloodied sons
fathers... their extinguished seed
the raping and pillaging burning, pounding
firing
smashing,
stabbing, dropping, and exploding
oh mars
you mangler of men-hater of our species
who do you answer to
when do you...
stop
how much is enough
mars the mighty motivator
an inspiration with no equal
deeds recorded in your name
volumes written
the epitaph of a dying species
more on the way...
Mars - you malignant god!
the Romans gave you homage...
and deity
the third month bears your name
in the diamond black, night time sky
you are the great celestial sphere -
crimson red in color, a thing of wonder...
a soldier obeys, kills and salutes you
as he has for three thousand years
We…your nemesis, turn our back from the alter of war and vomit you whole!

Interesting art choice. I would've thought Greek art would glorify war, but these images really worked.

Hey gg, Great violent imagery in your poetry. Write to me and tell me where you collect all of your beautiful photography of art. The images of your words and photos combine in strength and meld into apowerful anti-war statement memorializing you friend who died in Vietnam at 18. Thank you for a mighty effort and result.
