4:50 pm: After watching the most recent movie, and Hollywood blockbuster “2012” I can see why so many have fear of the unknown. It would appear the human race is going to be up for the ultimate trial, and a major tribulation. The Mayans knew and understood the past well enough to know it’s all happened before, and the past is bound to repeat itself. Life is cyclical according to their beliefs. These are my sentiments also...

75 million years ago, T Rex and his cronies boasted supremacy and what did that get them? Those beasts walked the planet a couple hundred million years and evolved into extraordinary animals with all the latest gear and gadgets. They were snuffed out like a cigarette tossed in a pail of water. Homo Sapiens have walked the planet for roughly 200,000 years and just may annihilate themselves if a natural apocalypse doesn’t get them first

After watching a scientific study program (on the “History Channel")- about the DNA connection of existing populations around the world, and the ultimate question about where “Man ” ultimately sprang from was being investigated. My eyes were opened a bit wider after following these men of science for an hour. These scientists painstakingly took regional samples of DNA worldwide. They covered all the bases.

From Mongolia to Africa; across the entirety of Europe to the steppes of Russia –and from to the Arctic Circle to North and South America they took samples of ‘ DNA’ from indigenous and mixed populations alike.

This team of esteemed scientists concluded that we; [the planet’s entire population ] are a hell of allot, more closely related to one another, than we would like to think or admit to. We all started out on the continent of Africa it appears, and through migration for one reason or another, spread north and out from there. But that’s not the news I was impressed with.

It appears that about 26,000 years ago, a “Global Catastrophe” nearly wiped “Mankind ” from the face of the planet. A multitude of other great mammals also vanished roughly that same time in North and South America. Mastodons, massive Saber Toothed Cats, and Giant Sloth’s, among others- saw their end!

The researchers concluded that only twenty three breeding human females were left to repopulate the entire, brave new world. They concluded to know this by accurate ‘DNA’ comparisons and contrasts. That’s pretty dammed amazing, considering it just might - or will - happen again. Whether it is the 2012 prediction date or not, we’ll just have to wait and see. “

The modern interpretation of the 17^th century, “Nostradamus' ” prophesies [Astrologer, Physician and “Seer”] don’t hold much promise either. He also points to the year 2012 in his, venerated as truths , quatrains - as a date of major change for the planets population. Millions worldwide are of firm belief that something is brewing at this precise point in time. We will see. We’ll soon find out just what the cook has to uncover on our dinner plates. Fact or fiction?

Just as we have creation stories such as the Sumarian's "Gilgamesh " to examine throughout history, we in turn have destruction stories as well. The Christian Bible speaks of end times in graphic detail. In the, “Revelations of John.” Seven Horsemen will be released from the almighty stables of death, per order of the Divine and the end will commence with a horns blast and shout from the “Most High” Seven seals will in turn be opened and each will contain the recipes of disaster. It’s grim looking for those who hadn’t been saved through their belief in the Judeo Christian Jehovah and his offspring son, Jesus Christ . Believers will not see the tribulation according to belief and will be whisked off in “The Rapture” before "Hell on Earth " arrives.

For believers and unbelievers, both will experience tribulation in kind. The world John saw in his vision came crashing down around the feet of the wicked.

Of course, the date is unknown because long ago wise men decided that it would be best not to pin the date down, for fear of being wrong and having it blow up in their faces. That was wise indeed. Prophecy is a gift few possess but so many want to.

The fact is, our "New Testament " wasn’t written until two centuries after Christ’s death . There were many other stories that were voted out of the Bible by the Holy Roman Papacy and only "select testaments" were included by the church.

I tend to take it all with a grain of salt. Considering those ancient times of ignorance, and the superstitious nature of the world, skepticism and questioning is in order. The bible tells us about other destruction stories as well.

Noah, his family; and two of each kind of animal, that he took aboard his huge, and improbable, ocean liner are supposedly the entire world’s regenerators. That was after that nasty worldwide flood that was named after him.

Noah’s- "Almighty " then created a rainbow to remind men of the flood and said the next time he destroyed mankind, he’d do it with fire! He obviously reconsidered methods because after all, water seemed a bit harsh even to the "Most High!" [He evidently had some reservations about the first method of depopulation and considered fire more humane] HUH? God then shed, an Almighty tear , and voted for flames come ‘Round two'... Gets one to thinking doesn't it ???

You know... considering that figure of twenty three breeding females from the recent scientific study and DNA evidence gathering … the Noah myth, might be closer to the truth in some respects that even my skeptical mind would care to admit. I’m saying this;

Old Testament Bible men - no doubt, were allowed more than one bride and had as many wives as they could afford to feed. Perpetuation of the species, favorable gene distribution, and spousal and infant mortality figures made this a necessity. Noah’s sons were guaranteed; stoned cold, Polygamists with a capital “P” Not that it means anything at all, just throwin that bone out there. Just Sayin!

There are a multitude of past and present lunatics to choose from when it comes down to the prophesying of mankind’s demise. Mankind has been crying “End Times” since the beginning of his existence; I believe that!

New Diseases, and unexplainable plagues cast on the ignorant have always been rationalized as a favorite response and penalty of the - “Almighty’s Wrath!” So it goes with Famine, Pestilence and Pharaoh’s Frogs raining from the heavens. Sometimes a Supreme Being might mess around with the water supply turning it to wormwood and coloring it blood red in those end days.

The seven deadly sins, Greed, Sloth, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Pride , are commonly thrown down completely by a justifiably angry, and wrathful God. That seems to pervade all religions. Superstition drives the hysteria.

How many Jonestown’s have there been in the past and for that matter, are there in the present?

"Jim Jones" to escape the dying planet convinces 913 others to join him for dinner and an electric kool aid acid test. They all drink his cherry cocktail and die as a result of blind faith and absolute belief in Jones' prophetic words.

How about the March 26^th 1997 “Hale Bopp Comet” people? They called themselves “Heavens Gate.” 39 believers killed themselves with spiked applesauce, in absolute belief that their spirits were going aboard a spaceship concealed in the tail of Hale Bopp Comet. That lunatic, Marshall Applewhite, talked these drones into killing themselves to escape the world's trap of evil. The evil of a damned and doomed society of man.

The men were expected to castrate themselves. Applesauce himself was found minus his oysters when the gang was discovered, and autopsies were performed. Some kinda party that must have been!

"David Koresh" and was another self proclaimed prophet and messiah. He was the leader of "Branch Davidian religious sect" . Koresh believed himself to be the planets "Final Prophet" before the end of times. His real name was "Vernon Howell" and he had it legally changed to David Koresh, on May 15, 1990. His believers had a showdown with the FBI in 1993 at Waco Texas.

The followers acted out of blind faith. That faith left 54 adults and 21 children found dead after the fire. In 1993 the raid was conducted under the supervision of Janet Reno, the then "United States Attorney General"

The "U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives" along with the FBI, led the siege and it ended with the burning of the compound outside of Wacoin McLennan County. It was an ambush gone wrong and the end times surely came for Koresh and seventy five- Women, Children and Men .

Prophets will come, and prophets will go. They all have one thing in common. They feed on "Fear, Pain, Superstition, and ignorance" Watch the cable TV evangelists...

“I cry as a voice in the wilderness ! To all that will hear me - "The end is close at hand!" Repent! All ye sinners repent, for the time is nigh!… and the end comes like a thief in the night!... "Follow 'Me' and I’ll set you free!"

'It's best not to be caught unawares' - that is the message of destruction and consumption... and while you're at it, remember your tithe is ten percent of your paycheck...get out your checkbooks parishioners! ...Jus sayin!

I’ve grown to be somewhat of a skeptic as years are put behind me. As I’ve grown in years and experience I believe I have become wiser. I don’t find myself falling for too much bologna. I did in my younger days though. I myself, believed in a multitude of myths in those days.

Blind faith is a thing of the past. Empirical knowledge doesn’t dictate my life either. Science has many answers, but in turn so doesn’t our infinite universe. Our place in it is determined, not by the vast majority of the planet’s opinions and false dreams. That insanity possess' the soul.

The dominating motivation of the multitudes is Ego. Ego drives the insanity and need to possess. They fear the loss of it. They have no connection other than to things. If the things disappear then what is left for them. Nothing! The Ego screams “No!” and panics. There lies the fear of “End Times”

I believe people are as curious about a great catastrophe as well as fear it. Refusal to face facts of an unsettling history of the planet comforts some. Ignorance truly is bliss. Some try to find refuge in faith, others find faith for convenience sake and stay blinded. Our place in the scheme of things comes from inside, not outside of ourselves.

The connection we share with our universe is as relative and grounded as the earth’s dependency on its moon. A spiritual gift has been granted each and every sentient being on the planet. I believe I have discovered something more important and exquisite than the pain or loss of dying a catastrophic death.

Whether I believe it will happen or not, I’m cool with a major shift or change come 2012…This planet is no respecter of personages. What we call “Nature” flows through all things. By separating ourselves from the world of Nature we deprive ourselves of true freedom.

Crazy Horse, a Sioux Indian leader, Shaman and Native American prophet saw his own death as well as that of his people’s way of life. He also saw the death of the world, when all the “The ‘True’ People” would be restored to the “Hoop of Life” and the “Circle of One” He saw great sorrow because men forgot how to be men. Time would pass when the world seemed consumed with evil and was at a breaking point. Killing would increase, men become more and more evil.

It would be at this point that he saw the evil being swept away as in a great flood. The greedy and false men would be swept away for good. The land would again be restored to the people, and the “Grandfather” would again be honored. In those days the old ways would be restored.

The Mayans only speak of a great change that will take place. Things will be different is the basic translation. We know that a spectacular planetary alignment will take place that December 21^st on the winter solstice. They were right on the money about that.

Our nearby, tiny spec of a segment of the universe may be altered somehow. The gravitation pull on the various planets involved here may have an effect on things here on earth. Hell, the entire planet might change polarity. Wouldn’t that be special? Why not, it’s done it before…several times.

Maybe it will be a giant Gamma ray burst of from our Sun. That would ensure frying everything above ground worldwide. It’d work with the Jehovah spin on reducing the world to ash because water was cruel.

For all we know, the “Giant Caldera ” that is “ Yellowstone National Park ” might decide to blow its top on that December 21^st and take the majority of above ground mammals with it by the end of 2013.

What means the universe deems appropriate for a little shake up is fine by me. Some are holing up and preparing as I write. The hoarding of canned goods, ammunition, guns and knifes are being stockpiled. The intention of falling back on these supplies and using guns on other humans is clear. ‘Just in case’… they all say.

Mass paranoia is what I see. The Ego is thriving. In order to weather the monkey shat storm coming our way I say, “Do nothing!” It matters little, what we do to prepare. Far as I see it anyway.

First off: we can’t cover all the bases.

Second: we have no idea what to expect! Each disaster has too many variables. Too many things can go wrong with the ‘Perfect plan.’

And third: It’s just another day coming up! December 21^st, 2012 is just another day. It will come and go whether we are here or not. If you’re right with the universe you have nothing to fear. Do you feel it inside you screaming to get out? Let it out and be your guide. There is no need to fear the inevitable.

My dog Elliot; the hound I mentioned at the beginning of this article, isn’t worried in the least. I’m following his lead... See y’all in sixteen months come hell or high water!
